Tectonic Morphology

Approaching this project I had two ideas I wanted to explore: differentiation between the floors and the texture of the building. The exploration was developed through hundreds of cubes that broke the 880 Ft skyscraper into 6 chunks with various grids situated horizontally and vertically. E.g. the first chunk, the cubes are placed on the podium at a rotation of 13 degrees and remains the same until the 11th floor, once the second chunk begins, each floor begins to increase in height by 1 degree and rotates horizontally by 1 degree respectively whilst decreasing the number of cubes making up the facade. The goal was for the occupants of the tower to experience different spatial elements while they circulate vertically. On the exterior, the building introduces a reverse tapering effect on the Highline, similar to the HL23 building.

The massing was created through grasshopper, with the final model being a 3D powder print.
